Meerkat

In the sunny, open deserts of Southern Africa, you'll find the meerkat, a furry sun-worshipper and master of standing tall! These small, striped mongooses live in big, busy families called mobs or gangs, where everyone helps out.

You'll often see them perched on their back legs, standing like a little soldier to keep a lookout for eagles, hawks, or other dangers. While one acts as the guard, the others use their long, curved claws to dig for scorpions, beetles, and other tasty treats. Meerkats are full of energy, always chattering to each other as they play, groom, and work together, proving that the best way to survive in the desert is with your family by your side.
